Sox Win! Kerry Loses!

It has been a week since the Red Sox won the World Series and it's just really sinking in now. Of course, Bostonians are still trying to figure out what to do now that the misery is over. The best commentary came from Dan Patrick's ESPN radio show, the morning after the victory and Patrick asked a Boston caller what it felt like: "It feels like a lost my virginity last night: I've waited my whole life for it, it was definitely good but not quite what I thought it would feel like, although I didn't know what it was supposed to feel like. But I definitely hope it happens again." It will be a brilliant moment when the World Series banner is hung at Fenway Park on opening day next April. The best part about that moment? The Sox play the Yankees that day, and Jeter & Co. will have to stand there and watch the banner go up, knowing full well that while the distinction for the greatest comeback in sports history belongs to the Red Sox, the accompanying distinction for the greatest choke in sports history belongs to the Yankees.

I don't have much to say about the election. I voted for Kerry, and I'm as disappointed in his passive campaign as I am with Americans who gave Bush a 3.5 million edge in the popular vote. But hey, I live in a pretty good neighborhood, so what the hell do I care?
